EMAC Reimbursement
Course Description:
EMAC Reimbursement describes the responsibilities and actions of ball parties within the Reimbursement Phase of the EMAC Process, the suggested timelines to process EMAC reimbursement packages, an overview of eligible and ineligible costs, and suggestions for receiving funds through FEMA Public Assistance from federally declared disasters.
Target Audience:
Any individual with EMAC reimbursement responsibilities.
Successful Course Completion Criteria:
Learners must complete all course modules, learning checks, and pass the assessment with a minimum score of 70% to successfully complete the course, receive CEUs, and a certificate of completion.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Recognize the legal basis for the reimbursement of EMAC missions and the authorities of states to waive all or some of the costs associated with an EMAC deployment.
- Describe the basis of costs for EMAC missions and the responsibility of states to pay for actual, reasonable, mission related costs.
- Identify your role and responsibilities as both a Requesting and an Assisting State in the reimbursement process.
- Develop reimbursement plans and procedures to send or receive all available resources within your state (to include jurisdictions within the state).
- Prepare for the reimbursement of EMAC missions by setting up in-state procedures for obtaining funds to pay for EMAC missions and procedures.
- Identify funding sources and develop procedures in advance of a disaster to recover funds spent for EMAC response and recovery operations.
- Explain the value of tracking reimbursement data in the EMAC Operations System and how reports can be utilized.
- Identify eligibility of expenses to prepare for the development of a reimbursement package or to review a reimbursement package.
- Prepare to complete all steps of the reimbursement process as Requesting and Assisting States in accordance with the EMAC reimbursement guidelines and state fiscal policies and procedures.
- Identify additional activities that will improve the reimbursement process for state emergency management agencies.

Teaching Methodology: Blended approach incorporating visual, auditory, and kinesthetic activities.
Assessment:The assessment consists of 20 questions.
